sarah and dom - portobello

The sun was shining for Sarah and Dom as we wandered the streets of Portobello and Ladbroke Grove. They were so much fun to shoot, always relaxed and smiling which pretty much sums up their relationship too! It was fantastic to celebrate their engagement through a series of photographs in their local area. I was able to capture their relationship within the context of where they live and the locations that accent their everyday life together. We even ended the shoot up on the roof of their building!

bright lights, big city

I've recently been looking at neon lighting in my personal work. In all busy metropolises such as London, the neon light is used to attract attention, communicate a message and invite you in. They are used to advertise a commodity when the sun's gone down. They signify 'open' when everything else is closed. Food, music, sex....anything that you want after dark, the neon light will help you to find it. Not only am I interested in the concept itself but in the sense of movement that surrounds these lights. There are of course some places where the neon light is accompanied with the hustle and bustle of the city. But I'm more interested in the silence - the calm out on the street when everyone's going to bed and there are only a few people still out on the street. A time when the streets are sleeping yet these places, and their neon lights flicker on through the night.
